The Navarre Bethlehem Historical Society

The society was formed in November, 1972.  Its purpose is to "preserve the sites, memorabilia, and history of the area."

Some significant contributions to the community have been:

  • The awakening of the local residents in the appreciation of the rich heritage of the village and township.

  • The preservation of the artifacts related to the history of the local area.

  • The purchasing and restoration of the Mathews house Museum.

  • The publishing of booklets and materials on local history.

  • A self-guided historic tour of the village for visitors.

  • Programs for school groups and civic organizations.

  • The sponsoring of the annual "Worlds Largest Yard Sale" the third weekend in May, or the weekend following Mother's Day and the "Octoberfest Car Show" the first weekend in October.

  • The "Christmas Candlelight Open House" in November and December..
